There was a time when the stars were so bright in the sky that the Moon became jealous. "Oh, what am I to do? I am much bigger than the stars, but they still shine so brightly in the sky. Oh, woe is me." There was a Star shooting by that evening. It heard what the Moon had said. "Well, hello." Said the shooting star. "I hear you have troubles." 'Yes, thank you for asking Mr. Shooting Star. I saw you shoot by, and I made a wish. Maybe my wish may come true." "A wish, you say," replied Mr. Shooting Star. 'What was your wish?" "I wish to be as bright in the sky as your brother and sister stars," Whispered the Moon. ' As bright as my brother and sister stars, you say?" laughed the shooting star. "Is that too much to ask for?" The Moon asked, sniffing back a tear. Tapping his finger on his chin, "No, that sounds like a reasonable wish that I might be able to grant." "How can you do that?" exclaimed the Moon. "I own a night painting service. I can grab a bucket of paint and be right back." and off Mr. Shooting Star streaked into the night. The next evening while the Moon was high in the sky, Mr.Shooting Star returned with a fresh bucket of paint. He proceeded to gussy up the Moon with some brand new color. "Oh, Mr. Shooting Star, I am now so bright. I am so grateful for your service," Chuckled the Moon. "You are quite welcome. If you ever need my services again, make a wish." off he went. Further on down the road, the Sun and Moon shared the sky. The Sun noticed how, all of a sudden, bright the Moon was. "Hello, Moon, you are looking so good today." said the Sun. "Why thank you, Mr.Sun. I got a touch-up." Replied the Moon and then proceeded to tell Mr.Sun how she achieved the renewed look. "I never see shooting stars when I'm out. Do you think you could make a wish for me and wish that I may be able to receive a brush-up?" Asked Mr. Sun. The Moon said she would be glad to make a wish for him. Later that evening, Shooting Star streaked across the night sky. The Moon wished upon it for Mr. Sun. Being more than happy to grant the Moon's wish the next day, Shooting Star contacted Mr. Sun. Now, for Shooting Star to paint Mr. Sun, he needed a place to stand. So the Moon moved in front of Mr.Sun, so Shooting Star would have a way to stand and paint. That's how the eclipse came to be.
