My Guardian Angels Wear Hard Hats

The world is a blazing hot orange furnace, a place where the air hums with so much heat that it is a constant struggle to survive. Yet there he stood steady with crutches on both arms and braces upon his feet to help him navigate through a brand new world that suddenly was no longer familiar. A place that held many new obstacles. How did he get here? The answer didn’t really matter; he was now here in a new form of body and mind. Life is difficult for the able-bodied folks, but for a person of different ability, it is a much, much more dangerous and daunting deal. Having a big heart and grit helps, but sometimes it takes more than that. It takes help from above. No, not the regular guardian angels, but guardian angels that are unafraid to get their hands a little dirty in order to watch over folks like him. Guardian Angels who protect the hard-to-protect. Guardian Angels who handle the heavy lifting. Guardian Angels that wear hard hats.

Just A Shadow of Himself

Just A Shadow of Himself; He had come early through the darkness of night in hopes of finding light and gathering new strength from the Sun. As he stood atop the hill, he watched as the Sun rose from its slumber and, to his pleasant surprise, greeted him with full glory and energy, casting its rays upon his face. In that moment, his long-held hope had finally become reality—the feeling of a new beginning of renewed strength. Before him lay the promise of a bright future, and behind him cast his shadow, a shadow that held every fall he’d ever taken and every weight he had ever carried. It was time to let it go and to never look back, but only forward.

Reflecting Pond

Reflecting Pond ; The figure in blue and green stands tall, with crutches on both arms, peering at his reflection in the water’s mirror. All around him, chaos swirls in orange and red. He is there to seek comfort from a new life filled with turmoil. The image he casts in the water shifts and transforms, reflecting not only his outward appearance but also his inner life or spirit. This suggests an ongoing search for clarity, peace, and a new perspective. In the Reflecting Pond, there is a moment for contemplation and meditation, where one realizes that although you cannot control what has happened, you can control how you respond. Not all is lost if you find a way to make it your own. www,angelwingartfarm.com

No Stairway to Heaven

The painting “No Stairway to Heaven” by artist Krafcik, executed in Reverse Glass Painting, immediately draws the viewer in with its bold use of color and dynamic composition. The use of bright, contrasting, strong colors tells a tale of a hard but determined journey. At first, you see a man with crutches and a staircase. As you look again, the man and the staircase become one. In this dreamlike scene, the staircase shows not only his journey but also his strong will. A determination of his climb, a climb that is both physical and emotional. The bright, wild colors show his struggles, but the path is marked by a glowing blue, a sign of hope and strength.  Where the orange signifies the chaotic, difficult reality he now faces. The colors visibly express the constant effort to maintain one’s own shape, identity, and path amid overwhelming intensity and odds. A work of art that is not just about a man climbing, but about a spirit rising beyond its limits.

Lost City on the Moon

The Lost City on the Moon; The Moon Castle, that was the name it was called ages ago. There may be only a few who have the knowledge of how it came to be. But many did understand that it was and is still there. Where is it located, you may ask? Why, silly, it is stationed on the dark side of the Moon. Under the shadow of space and below the mighty craters. Yes, below, as in underground.A celestial home to the Aven people. The Avens were the ones asked by the Sun to build the Moon. When the Avens began their construction, it was only to be a quarter of the Moon, but the Sun felt the city needed to be hidden from sight. There, the plan came to be for the Lost City on the Moon and the Moon Castle to be under the craters where the Avens could keep building the Moon into a round shape. When they were finished, the Sun noticed that the Moon panels that the Avens used to complete the Moon were dull. The Sun wanted the Moon to reflect its light so people of the Blue Island would think of him even at night. To fix this problem, the Avens got to work and coated the Moon’s surface with a layer of glue. Then the Sun took out a pouch of stardust he had stowed in his pocket and blew it all onto the surface of the Moon. The stardust made the Moon glitter, and with the help of the glue, it stuck to the surface. That is how the Moon came to reflect the light from the Sun and how the Moon came to be in the night sky.   https://www.redbubble.com/i/t-shirt/Lost-City-on-the-Moon-by-AngelWingArt/172393533/lrcw

When the Moon Danced with the Sun

When the Moon Danced with the Sun: The dance began before they met. It started with the Sun chasing the Moon around the world. When the Sun could not take the hunt any longer, it finally called out to the Moon. They pause their chase to look at each other. “What is it?” asked the Moon. Only smiling, the Sun holds out his hand for the Moon to take. The stars in the sky all assemble to watch what is to happen. Below them, the ocean starts to rise and fall. As it does, the sea’s voice creates music with its roar and the crash of its waves lashing the shore. With that, the Sun and Moon begin to dance. Shining in the sky, dancing the night away. When morning beckoned, the dance came to an end. Bowing to one and the other, the time had come, once again, for the Sun and Moon to go their separate ways. For each to take turns brightening the sky. https://www.redbubble.com/i/poster/When-the-Moon-Danced-with-the-Sun-by-AngelWingArt/179187961/flk2

Star Catcher

*Star Catcher: There was a time when the Sun held the same position in the sky each and every day. There was no Spring, Autumn, or Winter. Only Summer. The people of the Earth became weary of the same old, same old thing. The wise ones knew of an ancient group of space travelers that may be able to help in their quest to have different seasons.                                                                                          A summons went out for help.                                                                                                                                                                                                             The answer to their call was heard. Coming to their aid was an ancient order of cosmic beings. They are referred to as the Star Catchers. Some of you may know of this order of cosmic existence, and others may not. If not, here is the story of the Star Catcher.                       It is a job that requires a specific type of person to do. Not many can aspire to be trained as a “Star Catcher.” Only a few can finally, after much training, achieve the status of a “Star Catcher.”  To be a Star Catcher, one must possess a steady hand and an excellent aim.                                                                       Once approved and certified, they are awarded a golden magical rope that is used to lasso stars from the sky.                                                                                                                                              On the day the Star Catcher arrived, he positioned himself on the highest cloud he could find. Taking a firm footing, he looped the golden magical rope around the Sun, tightened it snugly, and slowly brought it back to Earth.                                                                                      Once secured, it was then placed in a cosmic box and sent on its way to the Garage of Stars for a thorough inspection. There, it was quickly worked on. The objective of the work is to cause the Sun to move from its location, which it has held steadily for years, in the Earth’s sky.                                                                                                               They removed the brakes and installed a spring. Then, without the brakes, a mechanism is installed to allow the Sun to move freely across the sky.                                                                             When it moved slowly to the North and finally reached the lowest level in the sky, the springs they placed in the Sun would help bounce it back slowly to the level that it had started from, and when it reached that spot, it would slowly start its downward motion once again. This movement would occur repeatedly, and with that help, Earth’s people finally experienced four distinct seasons. All the land was ever grateful for the assistance of the Star Catcher. http://www.angelwingartfarm.com

Meteor Shower

Once, every now and then, the Moon receives a treat from the cosmos. It doesn’t take much to make the Moon happy because who won’t be happy bathing in the love of the Sun all night?                                                                                                                                This is one of those times that if you are lucky enough to look up at the Moon that night, you will see her smiling from crater to crater.                                                                                                         By her solar calendar, she knew a cosmic event would happen soon, and that soon was this very night. It is known as an atmospheric phenomenon, a stream of cosmic debris, or, more accurately, a meteor shower.                                                                                                                                              Out of her celestial closet, she grabbed her favorite red umbrella. Then, to keep her feet dry, she slipped on a pair of galoshes and a bucket to collect some fallen stars.                                                  She waited to go outside before opening her umbrella, as opening it inside was considered bad luck.                                                                                                                                          As a cloud passed, she jumped on the nearest cloud and went for a star-falling stroll with her red umbrella held high over her Moon head, galoshes, and star bucket.                                                                To her pleasure, the sky rained down stars from a passing comet that night. The Moon waved to it, thanked it as it passed by Earth, and shared its dust trail with her and the people of Earth.                                                                                                                                                So, if you are ever lucky enough to see a meteor shower, be sure to follow the Moon’s suggestion to grab an umbrella and a pair of galoshes, and don’t forget your star bucket. http://www.angelwingartfarm.com

Cavern of Stars

Aurora drifts through the universe, a planet veiled in mystery, known for its underground cities and the legendary “Cavern of the Stars.” Aurora was once a flourishing world, filled with fertile, lush lands and farms that cultivated food to sustain not only its inhabitants but also many distant worlds. This era of abundance ended abruptly when a comet came to visit . After striking the planet, it brought widespread destruction and altered their way of life.                                                                                                                                                                                In response to this catastrophe, the survivors retreated beneath the planet’s surface and constructed a subterranean home composed of miles of interconnected tunnels, chambers, caverns, and caves, all linked by the slow-moving River of the Constellations. Without agriculture, historical texts explain that the civilization adapted by finding a new way to sustain themselves: the people of Aurora transformed into Cosmic Mystics.                                                                                                                                        A prevailing theory suggests that the comet was enchanted, releasing magical energy into the ground upon impact. Stardust from the cavern’s roof filled the Aurorans’ lungs and souls, awakening their minds and unlocking the subdwellers’ mystical powers and psychic abilities. As a result, the Aurorans discovered their capacity to weave their thoughts into the collective dreams and memories of every Auroran who had ever lived, as well as to access the memories surrounding the birth and death of Suns themselves. Thus, they became a living archive, filled with wisdom, guidance, knowledge, and insights into the past, present, and potential futures.                                                                                                           However, this transformation came at a cost. One day, all Aurorans vanished without a trace, as if erased from existence. News of this disappearance reached the distant planet of Avens. In response, a Wisdom Seeker was dispatched to Aurora to recover any remnants of their civilization.                                                    Upon arrival, the Wisdom Seeker found only lingering thoughts and a moon-shaped boat. He began to drift through the darkness, paddling along the river while the only light came from the stars hanging from the stalagmites, illuminating his path as he passed through the vast cavern system. As he moved further, he sensed that he was being watched. Rounding the final jagged bend, the atmosphere abruptly shifted, growing crisp and charged like the air before a lightning strike. At that moment, a voice entered his mind, stating, “Welcome to Aurora, Wisdom Seeker. These stars that hang from the roof carry all our memories.”             Halting the moon boat, the Wisdom Seeker asked, “Who is this, and how do you know who I am?” The voice replied, “We are the collective consciousness of the Auroras. We have been expecting you. Dear Wisdom Seeker, we possess psychic powers and knew you would come.”                                                                                 “Where have you gone?” the Wisdom Seeker asked.                                                                    The response was, “We are not gone, just merely elsewhere. Now, take a star in your hand and hold it to your forehead, and it will reveal the truths that it possesses.”                       Following these instructions, the Wisdom Seeker witnessed the star bloom with light, and as he touched it to his forehead, his mind was transported to a field of tall corn stalks, the wind in his face, and the fragrance of earth in the air. A figure greeted him, saying, “Welcome to our past.”                                                              Explaining further, the figure said, “Each star holds different memories, not only of our world but of the cosmos. Now go and learn and absorb all we have written.” Removing the star from his head, the Seeker found himself back in the cavern.                                                 The Wisdom Seeker’s mission was twofold: to protect the Cavern of the Stars and to prove himself its worthy custodian. Realizing the enormity of deciphering all the stars, he gathered as much information as possible before calling for another Wisdom Seeker to relieve him. This process allowed him to return to Aven and report his findings. The cycle was to continue as long as necessary. Even today, the extraction of information from the caverns persists in the hope of securing not only Aven but the entire galaxy.

Query Letter

Getting Closer to sending out emails to agents. Here is my Query Letter.. Dear [Agent Name],

I am seeking representation for ENCHANTED DREAMS: MOON, SUN, AND STARS, an illustrated picture book collection featuring 26 tales and artwork for readers of all ages. As an author-illustrator and professional artist since 1987, I create imaginative tales that introduce readers to myth, mystery, and the untold legends of the cosmos.

ENCHANTED DREAMS is a collection of celestial-themed fables, each uniquely complemented with original ink and watercolor illustrations.  Unlike many picture books, this collection weaves together unique imaginative storytelling with artistic interpretations of cosmic mythology, offering both visual and literary engagement. In tales like “Stars Just Wanna Have Fun” and “Orion and the Dragon,”  I invite readers to discover the universe’s secrets in playful narratives and vibrant imagery. These tales, averaging 300–400 words each, offer intimate glimpses into my own “enchanted dreams,” transforming celestial events into whimsical, relatable legends.

In addition to this collection, I am developing a second project titled “THE CHRONICLES OF THE WISDOM SEEKERS.” My work draws on a lifetime of artistic experience across various media, from copper and wood craftsmanship to etch and reverse glass painting. My creative path was deeply shaped by a 1980 accident that required me to relearn how to walk; today, I use that “overcoming spirit” to advocate for disability representation in art through my “Beautifully Broken” expressionistic series.

I am a member of SCBWI, and my full portfolio can be viewed at http://www.angelwingartfarm.com.

Thank you for your time and for considering these legends of long-lost knowledge.

May the Moon, Sun, and Stars shine brightly upon you, Sincerely,

David Krafcik

The Painter of Tales

The Core Philosophy: My work is a dialogue between the earth and the cosmos. As the “teller and painter of tales,” I believe that every star has a tale and every dream is a gateway to ancient wisdom. Through my art, I aim to enchant the viewer, offering intimate glimpses into a celestial realm where the Moon, Sun, and Stars are not just distant lights but living characters in an eternal, whimsical play.

The Journey of Resilience. My creative path was redefined in 1980 following a life-altering accident that required me to relearn the simplest of human movements: walking. This period of “being broken” did not end my artistry; it not only deepened it. It gave rise to my Beautifully Broken reverse glass painting series and taught me that there is a unique, jagged beauty in survival. I carry this “overcoming spirit” into every watercolor wash and every line of prose, supporting the idea that our scars are simply where the light enters.

Medium and Vision. Medium and Vision. With a professional history of owning my own art business since 1987, I have ventured into the art of Stamp-clothing, Airbrush, Glass etching, glass carving, reverse glass painting, and fused glass and woodworking.  But in watercolor and tale-telling, I have found my true voice. My current collections, Enchanted Dreams, the Moon, Sun and Stars, and The Chronicles of the Wisdom Seekers, are the result of years of skill blended with a lifetime of dreaming. I create for seekers, dreamers, and those who know the most important tales are often whispered by the Moon.
