When the Moon Danced with the Sun, The dance began before they met. It started with the Sun chasing the Moon around the world. When the Sun could not take the hunt any longer, it finally called out to the Moon. They pause their chase to look at each other. “What is it?” asked the Moon. Only smiling, the Sun holds out his hand for the Moon to take. The stars in the sky all assemble to watch what is to happen. Below them, the ocean starts to rise and fall. As it does, the sea’s voice creates music with its roar and crash of its waves lashing the shore. With that, the Sun and Moon begin to dance. Shining in the sky, dancing the night away. When morning beckoned, the dance came to an end. Bowing to one and the other, the time had come, once again, for the Sun and Moon to go their separate ways. For each to take turns brightening the sky.

Catching Falling Stars

.Catching Falling Stars: It looked to be a lovely evening. There was a feeling that maybe, just maybe, there may be a show in the sky that night. A shower of sorts. But no, not a rain shower but a shower coming from the heavens above. A Meteor shower with enchanting glitter, soaring through the night sky like cosmic lightning bugs. Now, the night in question had a crisp smell to it, so she wrapped herself up in her warm coat. Then, having a feeling that she may have a need for an umbrella, she grabbed the Moon-shaped one hanging on the wall by the door. There is a special place on this lonely hill called “Star Hill” where she likes to go and watch shows such as the one happening this evening. Out the door she went, laughing and singing her way through the frosty night. This happening was being called “The Night of the Falling Stars” meteor shower. She climbed “Star Hill” and took a seat on the ground to wait for the show to begin. The night around her got darker and darker, but the sky remained calm. Then, just before sunrise, across the heavens, she spied the first shooting star. Then, after that, another one and another one until the evening sky was filled with shooting stars.

With the number of stars streaking across the sky, the night became brighter than it was before the start of the show. Thinking she might get hit on the head by one of the many falling stars, she opened her umbrella. When she did, a wind suddenly appeared and turned her parasol inside out. She stood holding her inside-out moon-shaped umbrella as hard as she could without getting blown away. Peering up, she noticed that her umbrella was filling with falling stars. Oh, how lucky am I, she thought. The wind stopped, and then the falling stars followed. Walking back home with her pockets filled with stars, she thought that if ever this event were to happen again, she would recommend to anyone else that may go to take an inside out umbrella so that they can catch a falling star and put it in their pocket for a rainy day.

The Moon Joined the Sun in the Sky

The Moon Joined the Sun in the Sky; There was a time, long ago, when hanging in the sky was only the Sun. There was no night, only day. Then, after some time, the people who inhabited the blue island asked the Sun, “Oh, Mr. Sun, you know we worship and love you, but we are melting down here from your heat. May there be any way to get some relief? ” Mr. Sun looked down and replied, “I am but who I am. I can not turn on and off.” The blue island people were dismayed and returned to their shade. There they gathered and asked the sky for an answer. Many days later, the Sun still hung high in the sky like a molten pot of gold. One morning a young island boy shading his eyes looked up to the sky. There he first saw what appeared to be a large bird. It dove closer and closer to land. The boy could finally make out that it was, in fact, some large flying animal. He ran to the elders’ village tent to tell them what had emerged in the sky. They all came together, and landing in front of them was a winged creature with half a circle head.

‘Hello, I am the Moon. I have come from the skies to help you from the ever-present daylight and heat.” said the winged creature. With that, the winged creature took off to the sky. As he approached the Sun, he yelled, ” I am the Moon. I have come to help you with the burden of hanging in the sky all the time.” there came no answer. So the winged creature flew higher in the sky. As he became nearer to the Sun, his wings began to melt. “Oh no.” he cried. I can not fly without my wings.” As the Moon plummeted to the ground, a hand reached out and grabbed him. ‘Well, hello: it said. “I thank you for your offer to relieve me of this burden of always hanging in the sky. Let me lift you back to the sky and place you on my other side. There we can take turns shining in the sky. That’s how the Moon joined the Sun in the sky.

How the Eclipse Came to Be

How the Eclipse Came to Be“: There was a time when the stars were so bright in the sky that the Moon became jealous. “Oh, what am I to do? I am much bigger than the stars, but they still shine so brightly in the sky. Oh, woe is me.” There was a Star shooting by that evening. It heard what the Moon had said. “Well, hello.” Said the shooting star. “I hear you have troubles.” ‘Yes, thank you for asking Mr. Shooting Star. I saw you shoot by, and I made a wish. Maybe my wish may come true.” “A wish, you say,” replied Mr. Shooting Star. ‘What was your wish?” “I wish to be as bright in the sky as your brother and sister stars,” Whispered the Moon. ‘ “As bright as my brother and sister stars, you say?” laughed Mr. Shooting Star. “Is that too much to ask for?” The Moon asked, sniffing back a tear. Tapping his finger on his chin, “No, that sounds like a reasonable wish that I might be able to grant.” replied Mr. Shooting Star. “How can you do that?” exclaimed the Moon. “I own a night painting service. I can grab a bucket of paint and be right back.”

Off Mr. Shooting Star streaked into the night. The next evening, while the Moon was high in the sky, Mr.Shooting Star returned with a fresh bucket of paint. He proceeded to gussy up the Moon with some brand new color. “Oh, Mr. Shooting Star, I am now so bright. I am so grateful for your service,” Chuckled the Moon. “You are quite welcome. If you ever need my services again, make a wish.” Off went Mr.Shooting Star.

Further on down the road, the Sun and Moon shared the sky. The Sun noticed how, all of a sudden, bright the Moon was. “Hello, Moon, you are looking so good today,” said Mr.Sun. “Why thank you, Mr.Sun. I got a touch-up.” Replied the Moon and then proceeded to tell Mr.Sun how she achieved the renewed look. “I never see shooting stars when I’m out. Do you think you could make a wish for me and wish that I may be able to receive a brush-up?” Mr. Sun asked. The Moon said she would be glad to make a wish for him. Later that evening, Mr. Shooting Star streaked across the night sky. The Moon wished upon it for Mr. Sun. Being more than happy to grant the Moon’s wish the next day, Mr. Shooting Star contacted Mr. Sun. For Mr.Shooting Star to paint Mr. Sun, he needed a place to stand. So the Moon moved in front of Mr.Sun so Mr. Shooting Star would have a way to stand and paint. In doing that, the Moon, for a moment, blocked Mr.Sun, and that’s how the eclipse came to be.

The New Moon; Bobo the Owl was her name. She was an owl with some acclaim. She only flew in the darkness of night. I hope that is alright. Bobo would sit waiting in a tree, knowing that once a month, the New Moon was free. When below came the sound of running feet. Bubo would swoop for that special treat. Hunting it down as easy as can be. Don’t be alarmed, don’t be sad, an owl’s gotta eat, I hope you understand. So when you look up at night, and no moon is in sight, you now know it’s a New Moon, which has been taken for someone else’s delight.

Moon was Cold ; The Moon sat in the sky at night and was cold and lonely. Not even the stars could help with her lonesome sorrow. So one day, the Sun told the Moon, “Why not heat yourself upon my warmth and enjoy my company while you do?” “Oh. I would never want to inconvenience you,” said the Moon, who is very shy. ‘It is of no bother at all,” replied the Sun. “Please, help yourself.” So one day, the Moon took a rest atop the granite tower. There, it took off its gloves and shoes while warming itself with the fellowship and comfort of the Sun.

The Moon boat and the Sun

The Moon Boat and the Sun; There was a time long ago when the world was nothing but sky and water. During this time, the Moon Boat and the Sun sailed the seas in search of land so they may set their anchor down. One night, the stars in the sky said to the Sun, “We are so lonely up here in the sky. Would you be interested in joining us?” Now thinking this over because the Sun never thought of that. “Me with you. Why not?” the Sun laughed. So the Sun joined the stars in the sky. When this happened, a couple of problems arose. It seems that the Sun was so bright it blocked out all the stars and was also very hot. The water in the world began to evaporate, leaving some land too dry. The stars came to the Sun and asked, “We need to fix these issues, Mr. Sun. What are we to do?” Long forgotten was the Moon boat. So the Sun asked the Moon Boat, “How about you join me in the sky with the stars? We could split the days in half. One part I shine, and the other part you would shine,” said the Sun. “What a great idea!” replied the Moon Boat. When the stars heard of this arrangement, they all agreed to the plan. That is how we got the Moon and Sun in the sky.

Moonbow

MOONBOW: Of course, it would be only dark at night if not for the Moon with the stars shining in the sky. But in the night, there is no color as in the daytime to enjoy the world around you. Because of this, there came to be this one night when the Moon decided she wanted color added to her resume. The Moon asked a waterfall what would happen if she were to shine with all her might through the mist given off from her waterfalls. The waterfall, busy plunging water over the rocks, had no idea. But always up for a challenge, he said, “Let’s see.” So one night, while the Moon hung all shiny and bright, the waterfall pushed more water over its ledge with all its strength. The water flowed and flowed. As the water hit the bottom of the waterfall, a mist drifted off the falling water. Higher and higher, the mist floated into the night sky. Out of nowhere, a moonbow had shone. Therefore, with the help of a waterfall, its mist, and the Moon at the full peak of light, a Moonbow or, to some, a Lunar Rainbow was created. It radiated all the different colors never seen before in the black of the evening. Giving color where no colors had shone before. Now, thanks to the Moon and the assistance of the waterfall, if you ever wander by a waterfall at night with a bright Moon in sight, you may be lucky enough to get a Moonbow delight.

The Sun and the Solar System

The Sun and The Solar System; The Sun sat in the sky, heating up all around him with his warm glow. Day in, day out, shine, shine, shine. Now, even a hard-working disc needs a break from work every now and then. Thinking of what he could do to break up the mundane, a thought came to him. I bet my buddy the Moon would have an idea for some fun. So the Sun wrote a note to the Moon. It read,” Hey, Moon! I know you like to fool around. have any ideas on how I can let loose?” The Sun called a delivery star to take his note to the Moon. When the Moon received the message from the Sun, the Moon tapped his chin and thought a bit about how she could help the Sun. After pondering for a few nights, the Moon came up with an idea.                    One morning when the Sun rose in the sky, a delivery star came to him with two wrapped boxes from the Moon. “What’s this?” asked the Sun. “Open them and see,” replied the Star. The Sun was all excited because he didn’t receive many presents, and one by one, he opened the boxes. Inside was a container with the label “PLANET BUBBLES.” A note was also included inside the gift box. It read, “Dear Sun, enclosed is a fun way to relax and literally blow off steam.” There was another note inside the other box. It had instructions. It read, ” Take out the wand, dip it into the container, and blow.” Well, alrighty then, I’ll give it a go, thought the Sun to himself. He took the wand out of the container. It had a loop on one end. Dipping the wand into the container, and with a mighty blow, he blew into the loop. What came out of the other side surprised him. It was bubbles, but inside the bubbles were planets of all different sizes and colors. They slowly floated away from him and drifted into space. Pluto, Neptune, Uranus, Saturn, and Jupiter. Then out came Mars, Earth, Venus, and Mercury. The Sun gave out a hearty laugh. He thought he’d better stop there, not wanting the sky to get too full of planets and nine being his favorite number and all. He put the cap back on the “PLANET BUBBLE” container and put it next to the wand. This, my friends, is how the solar system came to be.

The Keeper of Night and Day

The Keeper of Night and Day; Once there was this place where he sat every day at the top of the mountain. The same piece of ground, the same view of the horizon. Like the rest of the trees, he started as an acorn that turned into a sapling. Then, with the help of rain and the Sun above grew into a mighty Oak. He had become known as “The Keeper of the Night and Day ” to the whole forest. It was not the title he wished for, but a task that was bestowed on him. You see, long ago, another Keeper stood in the same spot that he stands now. That was until an axman came and chopped the old Keeper down one day. Now the job has become his to spread his limbs and cast his shadow and shade for all to enjoy. You may ask why he is known to one and all as “The Keeper of Night and Day?” For most folks, there is a difference between night and day, but here, high on top of this particular mountain, the only difference between night and day is what side of the tree you stand on. There is no other place on the Blue Island where this happens. Only one, and this is the place. The home of the Keeper of the Night and Day. So if you are in the dark and need some light, remember all you have to do is step to the other side of the tree.

Under the curtain of Night

Under the Curtain of Night: At times, the night was dark and lonely for the Moon and the Stars, wishing they could find a companion to help them light the sky. They had heard of a Sun hidden somewhere. But how can they ever hope to find it? The Moon told the Stars, “Do you think it would be nice if we had a fellow friend to help us with our chore of lighting the sky each and every day?” “Why, Moon, are you lonely?” replied the Stars. Pondering for a moment or two, the Moon then answered the Stars, “Yes, I guess that could be the feeling I have inside me. A longing for another sphere to share the sky with.” The Stars and the Moon all gathered and discussed how they might solve this problem the Moon was having. One of the older Stars cleared his throat and said, “I think if we were to pull back the corner of the sky, there might just be something under it.” So the Star sat on the Moon and grabbed the corner of the sky. As the night moved on and the Moon rose in the sky, the Star slowly pulled back the sky. To their great surprise, the old Star was right. Under the night sky appeared a Sun with a blue sky. “Well, looky there!” exclaimed the Moon. “You were right.” On the day’s ledge, the Sun hung high in the sky. So, if you are ever in the dark and need to find the light, remember to pull back the curtains, because no situation is so dark that you cannot find the light.

Stars Just Wanna Have Fun

Stars Just Wanna Have Fun: The stars lead a very isolated life from each other. Every night, they are summoned by the Moon to display their brilliance high in the sky. One night, a very young star, being lonely and looking for friends, wanted to meet all the other stars. A very old, wise star spoke to him and told him that this would not be an acceptable thing to do. Why? Asked the young star. The wise old star replied, “We are stars, and stars need to separate from each other so we can have our own place in the sky to shine. But this protostar, what young stars are called, would not accept NO for an answer. One night, while the wise old star wasn’t looking, he put out a call to some of the neighbor stars that filled the sky with him. They all gathered under the full Moon. Forming a rope and a seat made from other smaller stars, and put together a star swing. The Moon offered her services to hold the star rope, and one by one, the young stars began swinging from the Moon. They laughed and laughed and had a wonderful time. They played toss with a star, skipped star rope, played tag, and danced on top of the Moon. The old star viewed what they had done, and instead of yelling at the fun-loving young stars, he laughed as well. One wise old star even came out of the sky to join them in their merriment. When they finally tired of merrymaking, they took apart the star swing and returned to their rightful places in the night sky. Now, from down below on the Blue Island, the night sky appeared to be full of shooting stars. Some people say that the Blue Island movement, or rotating on its axis, is the reason that the stars appear to be moving. So, after this story, you know that if you are lucky enough to see the stars moving, it might be the stars playing and having fun in the night sky. And swinging from the Moon.

Moon River

Moon River; The reason why the Moon affects the tides is because the water of the Blue Planet once was from the Moon. There was a time when the Earth was dry. No lakes, no rivers, no oceans, no water. Without water, there can be no life. Without life, the Moon was alone. The Moon wanted people to enjoy its beauty. So she thought, “If somehow I could provide this planet with water, then maybe people would come.” So, at that time, the Moon had so many lunar seas filled with water that it didn’t know what to do with all of it. “If I were to lower myself between the arms of two mountains, I would be able to share my water.”Thought the Moon. So one night, when the Moon was full, it slowly lowered itself betwixt two mountains and set forth its water. The water began to run and run from all its lunar seas, forming a Moon River. This river then flowed to create streams, lakes, ponds, and oceans on the Blue Planet. The big problem the Moon failed to consider was how to shut off the water from leaving all its seas once it started. As more and more water departed the Moon, it became lighter and started to float back into space, where it once had come. When the Moon returned to its orbit above the Earth, it was sad to lose all the water in its lunar seas, where now only craters remained. But seeing the water flowing on Earth and knowing that would bring people, it began to perk back up. Now, because water was once part of the Moon, there is a strong relationship between the Moon and water on Earth. That is why when the Moon is full, it calls to the waters to return, which is why high tides exist.

Balance Between Night and Day

Balance Between Night and Day: Some people wonder. Now, you may not be one of them, or you may be one of them, but I know I am. Why is the Sun out during half of the day, and the other half, the Moon shines in the sky? I happen to know a Star, and I posed that question to him. The following is his story, and he tells me he is sticking to it. At one time, the stars wondered the same thing and, at first, did not have a solution. Then, one fine day, they came across a traveling circus. In this circus, there happened to be a tightrope walker. One Star had an idea and asked the high-wire artist if she could be kind enough to show them how she did her craft. So, taking a Star up on the wire, she performed her show. The Star, not a stranger to heights, followed and had no problem learning the task. So, one night, the idea was formed to create a tight wire using stars. The Stars gathered together, joined hands, and hooked one end and the other to bigger Stars at both ends of the star-made line. Using a balance pole, the Sun and Moon were attached to opposite ends. The Star High-wire Acrobat then started slowly, one foot in front of the other. At the end of the balancing pole that had the Sun, that part of the world received sunlight, and the other end received the moonlight. When the Star high-wire acrobat reached the end of the star line, they turned around with the balance pole and started walking back. With that, the Sun and Moon switched sides. The part of the world that had once gotten the Sun now received the Moon, and the other side experienced the Sun. So, to the Stars’ high-wire acrobats, the Blue Island people have much to be thankful for. For now, they have day and night.

Lost City on the Moon

The Lost City on the Moon; The Moon Castle, that was the name it was called ages ago. There may be only a few who had the knowledge of how it came to be. But many did understand that it was and is still there. Where is it located, you may ask? Why, silly, it is stationed on the dark side of the Moon. Under the shadow of space and below the mighty craters. Yes, below, as in underground.A celestial home to the Aven people. The Avens were the ones asked by the Sun to build the Moon. When the Avens began their construction, it was only to be a quarter of the Moon, but the Sun felt the city needed to be hidden from sight. There, the plan came to be for the Lost City on the Moon and the Moon Castle to be under the craters where the Avens could keep building the Moon into a round shape. When they were finished, the Sun noticed that the Moon panels that the Avens used to complete the Moon were dull. The Sun wanted the Moon to reflect its light so people of the Blue Island would think of him even at night. To fix this problem, the Avens got to work and coated the Moon’s surface with a layer of glue. Then the Sun took out a pouch of stardust he had stowed in his pocket and blew it all onto the surface of the Moon. The stardust made the Moon glitter, and with the help of the glue, it stuck to the surface. That is how the Moon came to reflect the light from the Sun and how the Moon came to be in the night sky.

Orion and the Dragon

Orion and the Dragon: Once, in the mountains high above the clouds, lived a Dragon. He was known as Barnabas the Dragon. He was a large Dragon, for a dragon, that is, with a huge appetite. Now, this here Dragon wasn’t hungry for food. Oh no, no. He had a desire for shiny objects. A collector of shimmering items. Actually, he was a thief. If he spied something he liked, he took it for himself. In his lair, which is a cave high in the mountains, is where he stored the plunder that he snatched. One day, he took a fancy to the two bright objects in the sky. The Sun and the Moon. Barnabas wondered how he might be able to fetch them. So, without much ado, he flew high in the heavens and snatched them as easy as pie. Back at his den, he put them each in their own box for safekeeping. The land below grew dark and cold without the Sun and the Moon. So, the people of the Blue Island held a meeting. A gathering of minds to rescue the Sun and the Moon for Barnabas the Dragon. In the hope of returning their land to warmth and light once again. A skywatcher who lived with the Blue Island people knew that a meteor shower would take place the next day. Now, hoping that Barnabas the Dragon could not refuse to get some falling stars for himself, they knew he would be away from guarding the pinched Sun and Moon. A plan was set forth. They needed to send somebody to climb the mountain, enter the Dragon’s refuge, and liberate the stolen Sun and Moon. A brave volunteer stepped forward. He went by the name of Orion the Hunter. That night, as the meteor shower took place, Barnabas the Dragon did indeed take flight to chase the falling stars. Orion quickly climbed the steep mountain and reached the Dragon’s hideout. Inside were thousands and thousands of bright, shiny objects lying all around the cave. He proceeded to walk to the back of the cave and came across two big boxes. Opening them, he found, to his delight, both the Sun and the Moon. Hurriedly, he ran outside, opened the boxes, and set free the Sun and the Moon. Briskly, they returned to their rightful places in the sky. When Barnabas the Dragon saw what had been done, he returned to his hideout. There, he found Orion standing with the open boxes. “What have you done?” Barnabas screamed. “They were mine, and you set them free,” he continued. Looking up at the Dragon, Orion said, “They were never yours. They were for all of us.” The Dragon became outraged and released a fume of fire from his mouth with a mighty blow. It burned Orion to a crisp. The Sun and the Moon witnessed this action. Becoming incensed, the Moon first froze Barnabas the Dragon. Then the Sun, using its heat, melted him till the only thing left was a puddle. The people of the Blue Island rejoiced in having the Moon and the Sun back in the sky and finally rid of Barnabas the Dragon. They also were heartbroken to have lost Orion. The Sun and Moon then told the people of the Blue Island not to despair. They gathered up the ashes of Orion and flung them high into the sky. With the stars’ help, the ashes took the shape of Orion. Now, at night, when you peer into the sky, you will be able to see Orion, the constellation, come alive.

The Bridge of the Dawn

The Bridge of Dawn; Located between night and day, the here and now there spans a fragmented stone archway bridge vaulted over gentle lapping waters. Some are known to refer to this bridge as the “Bridge of Dawns. This “Bridge of the Dawns” is guarded by a magical presence to help ensure that every day, there is a balance between the darkness of night and the light of day.                                                                                                                                         If you are ever fortunate enough to see this bridge, you would be surprised to find that over the bridge hangs a crated Moon, basking in a deep blue, starry sky. Below, set in the waves, a bright yellow and orange Sun. In the middle lies the Bridge of Dawn, and there you would find the transition between dawn and dusk, and with that, a place of peace and harmony.

Climbed the Stars

Climbed the Stars ;                                                                                                                                                 “Carry me off the Earth into the Heavens above,” he pleaded. He was a fallen star. Left here alone on Earth to fend for himself. Just a star, nothing else. His only drive was to reunite with his brothers and sisters in the sky. The thought haunted him each and every day. Wanting to return to the heavens, he one day devised a plan. The idea was to collect other stars that had been captured by gravity and plummeted through the Blue Planet’s atmosphere to the ground. Even though these stars may no longer be alive, he found a use for them.

“If you look hard enough, everything will still have a purpose,” he mused. Once he had retrieved enough of the fallen stars, he schemed to assemble a ladder made of stars. Once constructed, he slowly, taking much care, started his journey ascending the star ladder. All adventures begin with the first step. So, one star at a time, he scaled them to the sky above. Even though it was much work, there was no quit in him; his thinking was that the heavens are my home; I must carry on. After a very long climb, when he had almost reached the sky, the stars he had been ascending stopped. He had run out of stars to climb. Swaying high in the sky on his star ladder, he became filled with despair. “After all the work I did to erect this ladder, I failed. What can I do?” He sadly thought to himself as he sat on the last star with his head in his hands, and began to sob. Then, suddenly, he heard a voice. “What troubles you, my little star friend?” said the voice. Looking up, he found that it was the Moon talking to him. “Oh, Moon, I am but a fallen star and wish to rejoin my brothers and sisters in the sky with you, but my collection of stars has all but run out. I am now stuck here at the top and can not reach my goal,” he cried. With that, the Moon offered up some advice, ” You need to have some faith in yourself that you CAN make it back to the sky.” ‘But how?” quizzed the Star. “By trusting yourself and the help of others,” the Moon answered him. ‘But how?” questioned the Moon once again. “If you can find the strength inside you and take a leap of faith into the sky, I will catch you before you fall and throw you back into the night,” the Moon firmly said. “I am afraid,” the Star said shamelessly. “To grow, my little friend, you must learn to sometimes step into the unknown, and if you believe in yourself enough, it can and will become fruitful,” said the Moon. The Star pondered the advice that the Moon had just given him. Then stood back on the last star and exclaimed, “You are right. I have gotten this far, and it would be a shame to quit now. I must see the plan through to the end.” Then, with all his might, the Star jumped into the night and reached for the Moon.

The Moon extended his hand, grabbed the Star, and flung him into the heavens. And just like that, the Star had achieved his goal and hung forevermore in the sky with all his brothers and sisters and, of course, his new friend, the Moon. As the Star shone high in the night sky, he thought, “Sometimes things in life can be difficult and may get you down. But if you devise a plan and believe in it and yourself, you can accomplish your dreams.”

Tree of Stars

Tree of Stars; Many, many years ago, geez, so long ago that some of you out there may not remember, there stood a very old tree on the Moon. Truth be told, it was actually the only tree that had grown on the Moon so many years ago. Now, this tree was not like the trees that grow on our planet. No, no, this seedling grew a very different kind of fruit. This fruit was not, I repeat, not the type of fruit you and I would eat. This fruit was made of stars. Yep, you heard me right, STARS. You know, like the ones that hang in the sky. This tree was known by the name of “Tree of the Stars.” I think you can figure out why it was called this. The story goes that when the stars on the tree became big, ripe, and heavy enough, they would fall from the tree. Now, back here on Earth, that would mean they would fall to the ground. (Something to do with gravity) But as you may know, out there in outer space, there is no gravity to pull them down. (So I am told) So when these stars were big, ripe, and heavy enough, and when they fell from the tree, they were caught in a thing called the solar wind. When the solar wind caught them, they would be tossed into the outer cosmos and go wherever the solar wind took them, carrying them near and far. For many years, this “Tree of Stars” had many great crops of stars, and thanks to that, the sky became filled with stars that you and I see every night.

drop Anchor

Drop Anchor; There are days when you may feel like you are rowing around in circles. Feelings of being alone, and everything you do seems wrong. During these challenging times, it may be good for you to drop anchor, pause, and reflect. S, there is still the wind and all those voices around you that try to push you astray. Take a moment to appreciate your surroundings and devise a plan for the next chapter of your life. May it be for today, tomorrow, or further on down the road. Dive deep inside yourself and, regardless of what others may say, know in your heart that you are a good, kind, and smart person. Don’t let anyone tell you anything else. Believe in who you are, stand firm in your beliefs, and trust in your worth, for it is the foundation of your strength.

Star Catcher

Star Catcher: There was a time when the Sun held the same position in the sky each and every day. There was no Spring, Autumn, or Winter. Only Summer. The people of the Earth became weary of the same old, same old thing. The wise ones knew of an ancient group of space travelers that may be able to help in their quest to have different seasons. A summons went out for help. The answer to their call was finally answered. Coming to their aid was an ancient order of cosmic beings. They are referred to as the Star Catchers. Some of you may know of this order of cosmic existence, and others may not. If not, here is the story of the Star Catcher. It is a job that requires a certain type of cosmic being to do. Not many can aspire to be trained as a “Star Catcher.” Only a few can finally, after much training, achieve the status of a “Star Catcher.” To be a Star Catcher, one must possess a steady hand and excellent aim. Once approved and certified, they are awarded a golden magical rope that is used to lasso stars from the sky. On the day the Star Catcher arrived, he positioned himself on the highest cloud he could find.

Taking a firm footing, he looped the golden magical rope around the Sun, tightened it snugly, and slowly brought it back to Earth. Once secured, it was then placed in a cosmic box and sent on its way to the Garage of Stars for a thorough inspection. There, it was quickly worked on. The objective of the work is to cause the Sun to move from its location, which it has held steadily for years, in the Earth’s sky. They removed the brakes and installed a spring. Then, without the brakes, a mechanism is installed to allow the Sun to move freely across the sky. When it moved slowly to the North and finally reached the lowest level in the sky, the springs they placed in the Sun would help bounce it back slowly to the level that it had started from, and when it reached that spot, it would slowly start its downward motion once again. This movement would occur repeatedly, and with that help, Earth’s people finally got to experience four distinct seasons. All the land was ever grateful for the assistance of the Star Catcher

Cosmic Box

The Cosmic Box. As the Sun walked into the cosmic room of antiquities, the dark space was flooded with the warm light it cast on everything and everywhere it went. After all, he is the Sun. Inside this cosmic room, there was a box he sought, a unique artifact among the many cosmic treasures that the Sun had accumulated during its many years as the boss of the daytime sky. Happily, there it still sat on a shelf. He slowly walked over to the box and picked it carefully from its resting place. Blowing off the dusk it had accumulated all these years locked away, the Sun gently picked it up in both hands, and he examined it. The box, a one-of-a-kind creation, was centuries old, yet it still looked as new as the day it was made. It was of fair size and made of lava taken from a long-extinguished volcano on a planet far, far away. The key to unlocking the box was on a ring of many other keys that hung on a peg attached to the wall, and it took a bit to find the correct key. Slowly, he slipped the proper key into the box lock. A clicking noise escaped from it as the box opened.. The anticipation within him ran wild as he thought of what secrets the box would reveal to him this day. He opened the lid slowly, and it creaked with age. When he peered inside, he saw the contents were of moons, planets, and stars of different shapes and sizes. Now realizing its contents, He closed the lid and took it to the nearby cloud. There, taking a deep breath, the Sun slowly reopened the box again. As he did, a solar wind magically began to blow. As the wind touched the box’s contents, it carried them away to the heavens and beyond, filling the sky with many new moons, planets, and stars. Let it be known that not only the Sun but everyone has the power to unlock the universe within us if they can find the right key.

Star Miners fantasy ink and watercolor storybook art and story
Star Miners

Star Miners: Every twenty-eight days or so, an event occurs high in the sky. Not only is the Moon at full strength, but look closely, and you will see that the star miners are hard at work. These star miners do not work in mines but on the Moon’s surface. As one star miner holds the Moon in place, another is armed with a chisel and hammer. Sporting great physical shape and high endurance, the Star miners chop away pieces of the Moon. As they do, the tiny pieces go floating into the night sky to form more stars. The bigger chips, too heavy to defy gravity, come crashing down to Earth. Some call them shooting stars. So, if you are out walking during a full Moon, be sure to wear a hat to protect your head from falling Moon chunks that the star miners have chipped off the Moon.

Lazy on the Moon

Lazy on the Moon; The night sky had been exceptionally busy this last month with all the hustle and bustle of eclipses, solar storms, dark stars, and meteor showers.                            It was all a bright star could do to keep up with all the goings on. Suddenly, she watched as Star after Star fell from the sky to the Earth below. They had burned out from all the pressure of burning brightly in the sky each and every night.                                                           Now, our star friend here was worried that she might meet the same fate as all her other hard-shining friends. Not wanting this to happen to her, one night, she took notice of a crescent Moon hanging in the heavens all by itself.                                                                         Maybe I do need, and I know for sure, I sure do deserve a break, she thought to herself.     So she grabbed a cold beverage, placed it on a nearby cloud, and lay herself across the Moon.                                                                                         The Moon had no objection, thank goodness. So there she lay with her feet up and a cold one, basking in the night sky.                                                                                                                              After a relaxing evening, she felt much better and was all ready to shine brightly in the heavens with her other hard-shining star brothers and sisters.                                                  The Star’s suggestion to you and me is that if you are working too hard and feel that you are in need of a break, then you should pull up a Moon, kick off your shoes, grab a drink, and enjoy the ride.

Meteor Shower

Meteor Shower:  Once, every now and then, the Moon receives a treat from the cosmos. It doesn’t take much to make the Moon happy because who won’t be happy bathing in the love of the Sun all night?                                                                                                                                This is one of those times that if you are lucky enough to look up at the Moon that night, you will see her smiling from crater to crater.                                                                                                         By her solar calendar, she knew a cosmic event would happen soon, and that soon was this very night. It is known as an atmospheric phenomenon, a stream of cosmic debris, or, more accurately, a meteor shower.                                                                                                                                              Out of her celestial closet, she grabbed her favorite red umbrella. Then, to keep her feet dry, she slipped on a pair of galoshes and a bucket to collect some fallen stars.                                                  She waited to go outside before opening her umbrella, as opening it inside was considered bad luck.                                                                                                                                          As a cloud passed, she jumped on the nearest cloud and went for a star-falling stroll with her red umbrella held high over her Moon head, galoshes, and star bucket.                                                                To her pleasure, the sky rained down stars from a passing comet that night. The Moon waved to it, thanked it as it passed by Earth, and shared its dust trail with her and the people of Earth.                                                                                                                                                So, if you are ever lucky enough to see a meteor shower, be sure to follow the Moon’s suggestion to grab an umbrella and a pair of galoshes, and don’t forget your star bucket.

Star Fishin”

Star Fishin’; There was talk in the sky. Talk that the stars were a biting. Now, that talk is nonsense for you and me, Earth people. But to the Sun, now that means fun. It means to grab your fishin’ hat, fishin’ pole, and some star bait. Then head on over to your favorite starfishin’ hole. It is lucky that this here star fishin’ hole lies right under the Moon. So after a hard day of shining in the sky, the Sun moseyed over to the Moon, pulled up a seat, sat on down and dropped a line. Before you knew it, the Sun was angling stars out of the sky left and right. He never kept anything he caught ’cause he was a catch-n-release star fishing Sun. When he did catch and release one, the young ones would stay in the night sky, but the ancient ones would go speeding down to the Earth as falling stars. After a while, the Sun needed to return to work in the sky. As he hung high in the sky all nice and bright, he thought of his day fishin’. On days when he didn’t catch any stars and someone asked him if he caught anything, he would answer with a smile. ” I caught a good time.”
