Sun Dragon

Sun Dragon

The Sun Dragon is a copper relief art piece with a handmade wooden stand for tabletop display and home decor. The hand-crafted hardwood stand measures 6.3" in length and 6.5" in height, and the Sun Dragon copper enamel disc is 3” in diameter. Here is the story of the Sun Dragon: On an island located somewhere between here and there stood a former volcano. Until one day. On that day, as the ground began to shake, the extinct volcano suddenly roared to life. None were sure why, at this time, it had sprung back to life, but a fire had returned to its belly. Thick black smoke billowed from its crater, and a vent appeared out of nowhere outside the beaching volcano.                                                                                                                                                A climb of 370 slippery moss-covered stone steps was needed to access the newly formed recess.                                                                                                                                                     Once arrived, the cavity was discovered to be a furnace blasting intense heat from the volcano's core. There was also bright red molten lava flowing freely from the orifice and rippled slowly down the side of the mighty beast, burning all that was in its way.                                                                                                   Inside the newly formed furnace, a disc was being forged of copper and glass enamel. An artifact that all would know as The 'Sun Dragon" had risen and returned to life.                                                                                        The "Sun Dragon" is a three-inch-in diameter copper disc fashioned with images of the enamel-coated sun and dragon being held in place by copper rivets.                                                                                                            This relic was thought to be filled with magic and great power to anyone who possessed it, granting the owner mystic powers.                                                                                                                           Slowly and carefully, the 'Sun Dragon" was carried from its birthing place to the land below. Over the next three days, it is prayed over by seven shamans. On the fourth day, it is hanging from scared wood taken from the side of the volcano in which it was conceived.                                                                                          There, it rested upon an altar for all to behold. Until one day, yes, one day, a shipwrecked sailor came onto the "Sun Dragon." The local people told him the story of the disc. Its origins and powers that it held.                                                                                                                                       He was so impressed by the whole affair that when he was liberated from the island and returned to his homeland, he immediately worked on creating his own "Sun Dragon."                                                                                  Today, we here at Angel Wing Art Farm offer this one-of-a-kind treasure that is available for purchase. www.angelwingartfarm.com
