There once was a mushroom fairy. Who only came out after an evening rain to greet the mushrooms. After one such rain, the Mushroom Fairy found a particularly inviting mushroom and climbed upon it, fully aware that from there it would be the best seat in the forest for what she hoped would come. “Hello Moon”, she yelled up to the evening sky,” Would you please come down to give us some light so we can play?” The Moon laughed and said, “Well, alright. I’ll be right down to brighten the night.” The Mushroom Fairy then held up her hand to the Moon and exclaimed, “I shall give you a place to sit while you enjoy the show that is to come.” “I thank you for that,” replied the Moon as she gently descended and took her place in the hand of the Mushroom Fairy and sat for a spell. Just then, as the Moon shone down on the forest, the woods erupted with music. “What is that? Ask the Moon to the Mushroom Fairy. “Why, that’s the cricket band striking up a tune,” said the Mushroom Fairy as she snapped her fingers in time with the band. Joining the band, the sound of singing began to accompany the music as the crickets played on. “Oh, this is quite the fun. Now, who may that be?” exclaimed the Moon . “My oh my, Moon, that would be the frogs lending their vocal talent,” laughed the Mushroom Fairy. The woods came alive with light and music. Stars in the night sky watched all the fun below, then started to flash on and off, and the ground became more illuminated as the lightning bugs arrived to twinkle light from their tails and dance along with the band. The party played on until the dawn began to break the sky. The Moon then said, “I think it is time for me to go before the Sun makes his appearance for the day. I do want to thank you for such a lovely evening.” The Mushroom Fairy then waved goodbye and laughed, “Thank you so much for sharing your light with us tonight. I do hope we can do this sometime once again.” “I would be more than happy to come down and join the band again” With that the Moon returned to the sky, followed by the crickets, frogs and lightning bugs returning to their homes. The Mushroom Fairy then waved and yelled, “Until the next time it rains! To all a good day.”.
