They emerged from the trees like leaves drifting on the wind. Their homes became woven into the lives of the birds and squirrels. Communities spread throughout the woods, among groves of oak, beech, and pine, as well as hickory, maple, and cherry. They chose to live in harmony with nature after mankind forced a decision: to save the trees or die trying. With that choice made, they moved and became one with the forest and all its inhabitants. They became the tree, and they them. A name was then bestowed on them: E-erts. Now and forever was how the protectors of the forest were to be called.
